My First Time - TNA Event

My First Time 1 - TNA Event

This is a new feature I’ll be doing where i remember my first experience with things that happened in my life.

My first one is regarding what is now my favourite wrestling promotion, TNA. The first ever TNA event that I saw was Lockdown 2006 DVD.

I first discovered TNA in an issue of PowerSlam magazine. I was interested when I discovered the number of WWE Stars featured on the shows. I wanted to watch TNA but back when it was available only on Sky, I didn’t have it do I couldn’t watch it.

Eventually, I discovered that DVDs were being sold in HMV, do on my annual trip to Dunkeld, I went into Perth and found TNA Lockdown 2006 on DVD. I bought it and watched it that evening. Immediately, I loved TNA.

Featuring several great matches and some faces recognised and enjoyed watching again such as Christian, Team 3-D, Scott Steiner, Sabu & Rhino. There were some names that I heard of in magazines but never seen before and I loved watching them wrestle as soon as I saw them like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Chris Sabin, Abyss & America’s Most Wanted.

The first match was Jay Lethal, Alex Shelley & Sonjay Dutt Vs Black Tiger, Hirooki Goto & Minoru Tanaka, six men I’ve never heard of but appreciated their work and really enjoyed their match.
Seeing AJ Styles & Samoa Joe wrestling for the first time was a pleasure as I’ve heard many great things about them. I had to see for myself how awesome they were and I was not disappointed.

I loved how professional the promotion was & how serious everything was. There was no silly segments like on WWE PPVs and no filler matches. Every match had a purpose and were very decent & acceptable (possible exception of Konnan & Bob Armstrong arm wrestling segment).

Overall, Lockdown 2006 was the first time I watched TNA. I lived the show and 6 years later, I love TNA more than ever & now a fan more than the WWE. Here’s to TNA for the Future.

Future Plans

Hi folks,

I'm coming along nicely with my movie reviews, hopefully I'll get all my existing reviews from Rotten Tomatoes on here. I encourage everyone to read them and see how feel about movies. I hope to review other forms of media like video games, comic books and wrestling related stuff.  I have a few lists at my Tumblr but I'll be deleting that soon. I'll transfer all my lists here and other blogs I've done.

I hope to get a blog done every week looking at all the news and going's on in the wrestling and movie worlds, as well as things going on in my life.

So, everybody read my blogs and visit me on:

Facebook page dedicated to my artwork (Ali G Artworks)

and of course

My Opinion on Wrestling

Let me get something of my chest. I don't care if Wrestling is fake, I still watch it. Exact same thing with movies. Lord of the Rings is fake, Star Wars is fake but I still enjoy watching them.

Every time I hear someone say 'Wrestling is fake', I often wonder what they are trying to prove. Why bring it up? To make yourself look smarter? To belittle me just because I enjoy watching athletes enter a ring and engage in physical competition?  Well no matter what anyone says, I watch wrestling because there is nothing more entertaining or more dramatic or more emotional in my opinion than professional wrestling.

Wrestling has made me the man I am today and very proud that I found it way back around 2001/2002. Nothing will make me stop watching wrestling and will continue watching until I no longer enjoy it. I'm aware not many people appreciate my love of wrestling and to those few who do, thank you for respecting my feelings.

I find it hard to go through each day without thinking about wrestling and I find it even harder knowing I usually can't talk about it with anyone. I wish I could have 3 hour coversations about whether John Cena is a great wrestler or maybe Shockmaster could have worked but I usually talk to myself. (Pathetic as it sounds but I enjoy talking about wrestling).

It really upsets me when I hear the word fake. Usually it's to mock and ridicule. Yes, wrestling is scripted and pre-determined but the pain is very much real, as evidenced by the condition of many long time wrestler like Edge, Mick Foley & Undertaker, who either are nearing the end of their in-ring career or simply cannot wrestle anymore because its too painful. Is taking a bodyslam or a chop really painless? Unlike these punks who think they know everything about wrestling, I know and understand the sacrifices wrestlers go through during a match. I can't stress how much I respect wrestling and no one will ever truly respect wrestling until they understand what it takes to put on a match.

You say wrestlers act, well wrestlers don't act the real pain they suffer every time they enter a ring. They literally sacrifice their bodies for our entertainment. Is wrestling fake? Why not ask that question to Terry Funk or Mick Foley? They'll tell you.

I will forever appreciate and respect wrestling and the effort of every wrestler for entertaining me. For every wrestler and their efforts to entertain, I Thank You.

(And to those who say wrestling is fake, screw you!)
